Tronsmart Halo 100's Review

Tronsmart is a brand that’s well known for producing various audio products with high price performance ratio. I have reviewed several products from Tronsmart and generally I have positive thoughts on their products due to the asking price and also the performance offered.
The Tronsmart Halo 100 that I have with me today is a portable Bluetooth speaker that features a powerful three-way speaker system, consisting of a dedicated subwoofer, two tweeters, and a mid-range driver. This combination produces an immersive and high-quality sound experience with clear treble, rich midrange, and deep bass.The 360-degree surround sound design ensures that music can be enjoyed from any angle, making it ideal for outdoor activities or small gatherings. The Halo 100 produces a maximum sound output of 60W, making it one of the most powerful portable Bluetooth speakers in its class.

Packaging is rather straightforward with a box and the Halo 100 is housed within it with protective foam and bundled with the standard aux cable and also the charging cable.

Foreword

My review is solely based on what I hear via my equipment and I never consider my reviews to be objective in any way rather a subjective approach. Do take into consideration that everyone’s ear anatomy is not the same, so the psychoacoustics perception might be different as well, but i believe it will not stray too far

General Features

• It does features an Aux in connection and can be used with a wire if you do not want to use the Halo 100 in bluetooth mode

Sound Impression
In terms of sound quality, the Tronsmart Halo 100 delivers crisp and clear audio, with well-balanced sound across the frequency spectrum. The dedicated subwoofer produces deep and punchy bass, while the mid-range driver and tweeters deliver clear and detailed vocals and instrumentals. The speaker's DSP (Digital Signal Processor) enhances the sound quality, providing a more immersive listening experience. The DSP also ensures that the sound remains clear and distortion-free, even at high volume levels, but when I was using the Halo 100, I did not push the volume to the max as I personally find that the volume level at 4/10 is plenty loud for my listening preference. The Halo 100 is not designed for critical listening and you should not expect it to, as long as your expectation is right when you are out looking for a portable speaker, you’re good and won’t be disappointed with the sound performance of Halo 100.

Battery Life Test

• The claimed battery life is 18 hours according to Tronsmart Halo 100’s product specification page

• In my testing when connected to iPhone 12 Mini, i managed to get close to 16 hours with listening volume set to 3/10 on my iPhone, that is actually not that given the size and also the performance that it’s putting out, this is with the LED light off

• With the lights effect turned on, the play time is reduced significantly, but it is still more than enough to keep the party going on

Bluetooth Connection Test

• iPhone 12 Mini is using Bluetooth 5.0 while the Halo 100 is utilising the latest bluetooth protocol, which is version 5.3

• During the test i did not encounter any drop out or connection instability, this is with the phone placed on the table in my living room while the Halo 100 is being placed in the kitchen area, which is approximately 7-8 metres away from my phone with some obstruction in between, solid connection i would say

FInal Thoughts

All in all, the Halo 100 is a solid product catered for people who are looking to play their music loud, if your intention is to use Halo 100 as a speaker to chill, the Halo 100 is not for you. The weight of the Halo 100 is not too heavy or light, balanced weight distribution which allows you to move the speaker around easily and also solidly staying on the position being placed rather than wiggling around
