EPZ G30's Review - Gaming and Music done well
General/Packaging/Comfort/Build
EPZ is a brand which I believe most that are in this hobby are familiar with, churning out products that are cost effective while offering decent sonic performance, at the same time, there are also some high end offerings from the brand, but that’s for other days, today i have with me the EPZ G30, which is a new IEM marketed as gaming IEM, it sports a 1DD+1BA hybrid driver configuration.
Unboxing experience is quite positive, the box is packaged in anime styling, within the box housed the IEM, storage pouch and a set of eartips, build quality is good, the whole unit is made out of resin and it is small and fits very well in the ear, with the right eartips it actually seals very well as well, it does not have any protruding edges that will cause discomfort.

Foreword
My review is solely based on what I hear via my equipment and I never consider my reviews to be objective in any way rather a subjective approach. Do take into consideration that everyone’s ear anatomy is not the same, so the psychoacoustics perception might be different as well, but i believe it will not stray too far
Sound Impression (based on default EQ)
Prior to listening, the unit has burned in for approximately 50-60 hours. There’s a slight noticeable change in terms of bass as well as treble, bass is slightly tighter with better control, treble is slightly more refined
Upon first listening impression, the G30 is leaning towards a warmer tuning, with good note weight on the lows as well as tame treble.
Bass
Sub bass performance is good but slightly lacking extension to my ears, can be felt rather than heard, but when the track calls for it, it is there and not too overpowering, certainly not basshead level kind of rumble but good enough
Mid bass is very punchy and has good texture to it, doesn’t sound bloated nor bleed into the mids
The bass is quite speedy and can keep up with complex songs such as Slipknot’s People = Shit
The lows work quite well for media consumption as well as for gaming, and not overpowering other frequency range
Mids
The mids are not too forward nor recessed to my ears.
Vocal positioning is akin to the artist being few steps away from you
Male and female vocal has good texture to it and doesn’t sound thin, male vocal is full and it sounds correct to my ears, female vocal also have sufficient energy to it, although i prefer it to have slightly more energy so that i sound slightly sweeter
The bass doesn’t bleed into this range which is good
Pinna gain is rather safe and never shouty even when the volume is being cranked up
Treble
Treble is smooth and non offensive, but retains enough energy to not sound dark
The con is that the resolution is just average the same goes to detail retrieval as well
Amount of air and presence is slightly above average but this is understandable as it is the tuning that they strive for
This is the kind of treble where i would just plug in and listen whenever i want to have an easy listening session
Soundstage/Imaging
Soundstage is slightly out of your head with good width, depth and height perception is good, this is evident because it is marketed for gaming
Imaging is good as the instruments can be pinpointed easily even during busy track, also something useful for gaming especially FPS gaming, certain complex orchestral tracks might not perform that well
Driveability
G30 is not hard to drive but it does scale well with more power, in terms of dynamics and bass control
Most of the entry level/mid range dongles will do just fine but desktop setup or mid range DAP will squeeze every bit out of the G30
Additional Feature for Type C version
Able to customise and select the EQ from web or app
The interface shown below is from the web page, rather straight forward instructions, this is the link to the page (https://peq.szwalkplay.com/)
Activating the simulated 7.1 surround when gaming is actually quite fun,
Comparison (Twistura Beta )
Warm sounding overall and mid bass focused, sub bass is slightly rolled off compared to G30
Beta is a single DD setup, treble has slightly more air and vocal is slightly more forward
In terms of features, Beta does not support any tuning or simulated effects other than offering different sound tuning via physical nozzle change itself
Note weight is more or less similar but in terms of timbre, G30 is much better, Beta’s timbre can be a little off depending on tracks, this is possibly due to the diaphragm material used in the driver
Soundstage is slightly smaller and imaging is also not as pin point accurate as G30
Beta doesn’t benefit much from amplification, G30 seems to scale quite well with power
Final Thoughts
The G30 certainly set itself apart from some of the gaming marketed set, not only it does gaming well, even when listening to music, it actually works quite well as well. The web interface for customisation is certainly a welcoming feature for those who don't want to install the app on your device, the asking price is also right based on the sonic performance as well as the whole package in my opinion, do i recommend this? Certainly!
