The Gigas 1 arrives in FiiO's usual practical packaging — no frills, just the amp itself, a USB-C cable, and documentation. Depending on your region, the 12V PD power adapter may or may not be bundled, so double check before ordering if you want the full-power mode out of the box, with the 5V being the standard bundled cable
Build quality punches well above the roughly $50 price tag. The chassis is anodized aluminum alloy, available in black, silver, and green, at approximately 132 x 60 x 40mm and 210 grams. It's got real heft on the desk, and the retro-style lighting effect around the volume knob is a nice touch without being gimmicky. The oversized volume knob turns smoothly, and the mechanical gain toggle switch is satisfying to flip. Two analog inputs (RCA and 3.5mm), two outputs (3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced). Simple, functional, no unnecessary bloat.

Foreword
My review is solely based on what I hear via my equipment and I never consider my reviews to be objective in any way rather a subjective approach. Do take into consideration that everyone's ear anatomy is not the same, so the psychoacoustics perception might be different as well, but i believe it will not stray too far.
Sound Impression
For this review the Gigas 1 was fed via RCA from the Burson Conductor Stellar's line out, running the full 12V PD power mode to unlock its full driving capability. After approximately 30-40 hours on my burn-in rig, the amp settled into a sound that's clean, neutral warm, with a tinge of body added by the discrete transistor stage rather than a sterile op-amp character.
I noticed at very low volume, there’s a slight noticeable channel imbalance which I believe is normal for analog volume control, but nobody will be using Gigas 1 at such volume level anyway, so it’s not even a concern or problem at all
The pairing with the Conductor Stellar as source is a genuinely good match. The Stellar's own refined, controlled output gives the Gigas 1 a clean signal to work with, and the amp's job here is purely to add current and drive — which it does without smearing or coloring what the Stellar is already doing well. To my ears, this combo doesn't sound like a budget amp bolted onto a flagship desktop DAC — it sounds coherent and does not add much colorisation to the signal
Per-Headphone / Per-IEM Pairing
Hifiman Edition XV (planar, low sensitivity): This is exactly the kind of load the Gigas 1 was built for. On high gain with the 12V PD supply engaged, the amp drives the planar with real authority — bass has proper slam and doesn't feel constrained, and the top end opens up in a way that low-power sources simply can't manage. Dynamics and soundstage both benefit noticeably from the extra current on tap, i also noticed a slightly increased bass quantity, but in a good way, clean and controlled
Spirit Torino Twin Pulse IEM (dynamic, moderate sensitivity): On low gain, the Gigas 1 controls this IEM well, bass stays textured and doesn't bleed into the mids at all. Noise floor is pitch black even at higher volume steps, which says good things about the discrete output stage's inherent quietness, noticeably better dynamics as well as imaging
EPZ P40 (IEM, high sensitivity): This is where the lack of volume detents becomes a minor annoyance — on low gain the sweet spot is a narrow window on the knob. Once dialed in though, background is dead silent, no hiss whatsoever, and the amp doesn't overpower the IEM's more delicate presentation, the slight added warmth definitely improved the texture of P40, i would personally say this is a good pairing
Tanchjim Origin (IEM, moderate sensitivity): A comfortable, easy pairing. Vocal density holds up well, and the Gigas 1's slight warmth injection here complements the Origin's more reference-leaning tuning nicely without muddying it, slightly improved note weight and the upper mids not as forward

Comparison
vs. iFi Zen Air DAC 2: The Zen Air folds DAC and amp into one compact unit, which is more convenient for a minimal desktop setup. But as a dedicated amp, the Gigas 1's output power is simply in another league — the Zen Air starts to run out of steam on harder-to-drive planars where the Gigas 1 still has plenty in reserve. For anyone already running a dedicated source like the Conductor Stellar, the Gigas 1 is the better half of the stack, though, this is not really an apple to apple comparison, but to be frank, where can we find a dedicated headphone amp that produces this much power, and at such asking price?
Final Thoughts
The Gigas 1 is a "where else can you get this much power for this little cash" kind of product, and it delivers exactly on that promise, even then, the sonic performance is not compromised despite being priced at entry level pricing. Paired with the Burson Conductor Stellar as a source, this little amp punches well beyond its price class, especially once you engage the 12V PD mode and let it stretch its legs on demanding planar headphones. It's not a do-everything solution since there's no DAC onboard, but as a dedicated amplification stage in a proper desktop stack, it does everything right. For the asking price, there's very little to complain about, and the best part is, the Gigas 1 is so small that i would even consider bringing it out as a transportable.
